Comic artist and scenarist Lewis Trondheim (°1964, FR) lay at the basis of the ‘new French comic’, together with colleagues David B, Jean-Christophe Menu and Joann Sfar. He is co-founder of the influential editorial L’Association.
Trondheims first famous comic series was Lapinot (L’Association, 1992). The biggest commercial success was undoubtedly Donjon, about an enormous castle inhabited by strange creatures. Some of his series were translated to television. Creations like La Nouvelle Pornographie and Non, non, non however prove that Trondheim was not afraid of experimenting either.
Trondheims last feats are an opera script, Affaire étrangère (2009), and a comic especially made for contemporary media, Bludzee.
